Invitation from the Chair

On behalf of the organising committee, IMSANZ, and the Queensland State Committee of the RACP it is a great pleasure to invite you to join us at the forthcoming IMSANZ-RACPQ Combined Scientific Meeting to be held at the Broadbeach Sofitel on the Gold Coast in October 2010.
The meeting is taking place at a time of rapid change in the place that General Internal Medicine provides in our health care systems, on both sides of the Tasman, a time when Governments are beginning to understand the importance of General Internal Medicine services both within and outside hospital settings. At the same time, as a society IMSANZ is welcoming associate members from  all clinical professions engaged in General Medicine service provision, reflecting the importance of teamwork within our services.

The program has been especially chosen to reflect the diversity of practice of General Internal Medicine, with sessions on Acute Medicine Units in addition to clinical updates on core conditions relevant to General Physicians, General Medicine Trainees, Nurses and Allied Health professionals working across the spectrum of workplaces of General Medicine. The Annual Queensland Adult Medicine Advanced Trainees presentations competition will be occur during the program, as well as a concurrent session with the faculty of Public Health. Broadbeach on the Gold Coast is a world renowned family holiday destination with magnificent beaches, resorts and easy access to other activities such as the Theme Parks and the marvellous Gold Coast Hinterland.  The conference centre is surrounded by an enormous choice of excellent eateries, catering for any taste. The Gold Coast is serviced by 2 airports, with Coolangatta airport taking regular flights from New Zealand.

Overview
The Quality Expert Advisory Group is the peak clinical quality and safety advisory group for The Royal Australasian College of Physicians. This workshop has been developed with the aim of providing physicians with a practical approach to using clinical measurement to improve performance in their own practice– be it in hospital or consulting rooms.

Who is the workshop aimed at?
Physicians and trainees who are interested in further understanding and using measurement for improvement within their hospital department or private practice.
